1. Head of Agriculture and Food Security Division

Purpose of Job

Directs and manages the daily operations of the Agriculture and Food Security Division in order to achieve the strategic objectives of the directorate and the AU’s overall goals/ Job offers at Africa Union Commission

Main Functions

• Designs and implements policies, programs and projects to achieve the directorate’s strategic objectives.

•Manages and supervises employees within the division, ensures the timely delivery of the directorate’s goals and effective staff performance evaluation;

• Designs policies, strategies and programs to contribute to the effective implementation of relevant AU Policy Organs Decisions;

•Ensures the delivery of the division’s annual targets in line with the directorate’s overall goals and ensures robust and timely monitoring and reporting;

•Provides technical leadership and ensures efficient functioning of all Units within the Division

•Manages the work of the Division and supervises direct reports to ensure their effective performance in line with the organization’s performance management policy and system

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

• Master’s degree in Agricultural Sciences, Animal Sciences, Food Policy, and Development Studies or related fields with twelve (12) years of relevant work experience working in progressively responsible positions, with seven (7) years of at managerial level and five (5) years at supervisory level.

•A higher degree qualification would be an added advantage.

2. Finance and Administration Officer (ACHPR)

Purpose of Job

Provides technical and overall support in and/or ensures the development and implementation of financial, accounting, budgetary and resource mobilization as well as management policies, strategies, procedures and contributes to optimization in the use of the Commission’s resources.

Main Functions

• Coordinates programme and operations budgetary planning and preparation processes;

• Ensures financial accounting is done in compliance with AU guidelines and generally acceptable accounting principles;

•Leads the preparation and submission of IPSAS Complaint annual financial Statements, including annual budget execution reports, quarterly financial statements for programme and operational budgets;

•Monitors all accounts to ensure their accuracy and completeness;

• Monitors and controls expenditure within the approved budget;

• Assesses the financial contributions of participating countries and liaises with relevant national focal points for their collection;

• Liaises with external financing sources, including relevant offices for the mobilisation of resources in support to the ACHPR Process/ Job offers at Africa Union Commission

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field with five (5) years of experience in accounting and financial audit, in preparing IPSAS compliant Financial Statements of which two (2) years at supervisory level.

OR

•A Masters level of academic qualification in the above-mentioned fields of study or related, with a minimum of two (2) years relevant work experience (as indicated) with supervisory exposure is accepted as well.

3. Chief Executive Officer (APRM)

Deadline: August 28, 2023

Location: SouthAfrica, SouthAfrica

Organization: African Union

Purpose of Job

To head different directorates which oversee the proper execution of policies in different areas of concern of APRM.
To strategically lead the APRM towards achieving its mandate of ensuring that the policies and practices of participating states conform to the agreed political, economic, and corporate governance values, codes and standards contained in the Declaration on Democracy, Political, Economic and Corporate Governance/ Job offers at Africa Union Commission

Main Functions

• Ensures the proper formulation of policies.

• Facilitating and overseeing implementation of APRM policies, objectives and programmes.

• Implements the AU’s Policy Framework on relevant programs.

• Coordinates, harmonizes, implements and monitors APRM’s programmes in Africa, including with Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and international partners.

•Promotes AU shared values across all AU programs.

•Contributes towards sustainable growth and development.

•Leads the adoption of measures and strategies on achieving of agenda 2063.

•Encourages and provides technical support to Member States in the implementation of policies and programmes in its fields.

•Strengthens regional coordination, cooperation and integration initiatives.

Academic Requirements and Relevant Experience

• Master’s degree in Political Science, International Relations or any other related area.

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience within a complimentary environment with at least 10 years in a senior management role and 5 years at supervisory level. A track record of improving organizational integration and effectiveness

• Master’s Degree in Law, Criminal Justice, Criminology or a field related to investigations with twelve (12) years relevant experience of which a minimum of seven (7) years should be at managerial level and five (5) years at supervisory level

• Experience in interviewing subjects, witnesses in the furtherance of investigations or any other internal justice system is mandatory.
