Teaser 2: Whether you are an NPP footsoldier defending your government for giving post-retirement contracts to retirees while young graduates are unemployed, including your own siblings, or you are NDC communicator feeding on this post-retirement contract, remember that all the other high ranking staff waiting in queue to rise to the positions being occupied are all affiliated to a political party supposedly. However, their party affiliation has no value in the eyes of the appointing authorities. In other words, “we all dey inside”

The policy to make first degree entry a requirement to teach in Ghana Education Service means that every batch of entrants into G.E.S will rise to Deputy Director (DD) rank at the shortest possible time, while the number of Senior High Schools in the country is only a fraction of any batch of recruits.
Options
a. the failure rate at promotion exams has to be increased to make sure only a few people get promoted to the Deputy Director rank
b. Staff get promoted like before and different criteria are used to select who can become a headmaster.
c. The required rank needed to head a school will be increased to Director II or Director I.

2. Anthony Boateng and his colleagues, who refused to leave the scene, also managed to cap the upper band of staff progression. In this instance, staff who are duly qualified will be forced to remain in their stagnated position whether they ever supported a political party or not.

In conclusion, no matter your political affiliation, gender, ethnicity or religious affiliation, you must be prepared to adjust to the new normal in the case of new entry requirements or the “I can not go home” syndrome of retired higher rank staff.
