NPP Teachers Held Press Conference To Declare Support For New G.E.S Director-General [Link 1 and half minute video attached]

Highlights

2. A group of teachers, believed to be NPP hardliners, held a press conference today, 24th October, 2022 to declare support for the newly appointed Director-General of Ghana Education Service.

3. Apart from other diplomatic jabs thrown at the appointment of the new Director-General, he has been called, in plain words, ‘a goro boy’, a local parlance of a connected errand boy, at the education ministry by the teachers’ unions.

4. In contrast to the press conference declaring support for the new Director-General, the three major teachers’ unions in the country have rejected the appointment of the new Director-General.

5. It is yet to be seen whether the support from the handful of teachers perceived to be hardcore members of the ruling New Patriotic Party will change the mindset of the general membership of teachers.
