Mempeasem Village Burnt-Down In North-Gonja District Over | Old age conflict resurrected with link to short video of action attached

Mempeasem village burnt-down in North-Gonja district of Savannah region. The incident happened on Thursday 9th March 2023 between the Mamprusi people and the Gonja people in Mempeasem. Mempeasem is a village near Mankarigu in the North Gonja district of Ghana. Video of events

According to an eyewitness, the incident involved gun shots between the hours of 1am on Thursday to 12pm on Friday after the police arrived in the village.

A large number of Gonjas, allegedly from Daboya community, came to chase the Mamprusi people out of the village in the night. The Gonjas burnt down all houses and properties including motorbikes and stores when the Maprusi people were out of bullet.

According to the eyewitness, the incident started after one of the Mamprusi people who was drunked burnt a room in the house of the newly eskined chief some few days earlier.

The situation has resulted in the displacement of all Mamprusi people from the Mempeasem village. Till today, not a single live of the Mamprusi people can be found in the burnt village.

It is the hope of the concerned community member that the president of the land, HE President Nana Akufo-Addo will help provide security and forestall peace in the area. Short video of events
