Dear Hon. Dr. Adutwum, serialization of WASSCE questions 2023 is long overdue. You have vividly illustrated the benefits of serializing Basic Education Certificate Examination questions. After a successful pilot and implementation of the serialization of the BECE questions, it is time to adopt the same approach to the West African Secondary Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

Even though the serialization of examination questions only prevents external influence on examination malpractices, it is by no means negligible.

It is a fact you are aware of examination room malpractices. However, the proportion or the impact of external examination source of examination malpractices could be equal to the examination room sources of the examination malpractices.

Also, some students considered the examination room malpractices as a level playing field for their inability to afford leaked examination papers. Even those who have the means to afford it locate the right sources or papers. Therefore, the unavailability of external leakages will eliminate the thoughts of students who believe examination room malpractice is a leveler.

Dr. Adutwum Serialization Disclosure

1. The Minister of Education has disclosed that, going forward, Basic Education Certificate Examination questions will be different for candidates writing an examination in the same examination center.

2. Previously, BECE candidates in different regions of the country had different serialized sets of questions.

3. The serialization means dealers in leakage of WAEC could not provide a wholesale service to candidates ready to engage in the examination malpractice

4. In the words of the minister, unscrupulous people who provide leaked examination papers to candidates will be out of business when candidates in the same examination center write different serialized sets of questions.

5. The last stage of eliminating the external leakages of WAEC papers will happen when candidates from the same school write different serialized sets of questions.
