GTLE past questions and answers for candidates leaks: The National Teaching Council (NTC), organizers of the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination, released the latest results on 20th June 2023.

Type of candidates

NTC organized the Ghana teacher licensure examination for only resit candidates. That means all candidates have ever written the GTLE before.

The candidates wrote the exam in May 2023.

Pass rate

However, the results of the latest Ghana teacher licensure examination are really appalling. Only 16.5% of candidates passed. The remaining 84.5 failed.

Complaints and conspiracy theories

Interestingly, there is a general complaint among the general public concerning the failure rate.

The candidates themselves believe the National Teaching Council should take the blame. This is because the teacher examining body does not disclose the areas that the council will set the questions on.

The Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT, however, believes the framework of the current examination should be open for a broader dialogue among stakeholders.

Netizens also believe the government might be responsible for the high failure rate. They believe the government might have ordered the failures to prevent successful candidates from applying for government jobs.

The leaks may provide a successful public relations tool for both the National Teaching Council and the government.

Last chance for diploma candidates

The National Teaching Council disclosed that candidates who hold a diploma certificate have only one chance to sit for the exam again.

This is because the subsequent versions of the exam will have no room for diploma candidates.

The country is implementing an educational reform that requires teachers to hold a minimum of first degree before they can teach in the country.
