GNAT Retirement Benefit Increased And More: UPDATE FROM GNAT NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

There was a council meeting recently by the National Council of the Ghana National Association of Teachers. GNAT retirement benefit is one of the issues discussed. Below are some of the highlights from the meeting.

1. GNAT Retirement benefit and GNAT death benefit increased to GH 3,000.00 effective 1st January.

2. The establishment of GNAT Institute for Research and Industrial Relations ongoing.

3. The Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC) Board and the Cancer Foundation Board Inaugurated.

4. GNAT members who retired Effective January, 2023 are qualified to receive treatment from the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC).

5. GNAT Provident Fund Scheme ( Tier 3) is doing well. Members are encouraged to enroll unto the Scheme.

6. Leadership of GNAT making efforts for the refund of the Gh 44.55 on the one Teacher one Laptop.

7. Allowance for Teachers in deprived areas: Technical Committee had finished thier work and would present thier report to GES.

8. Promotions ( senior and junior ranks) and upgrading are ongoing.

9. Local GNAT conferences would be held from February to April, 2023 across the country.
