The team protecting Ukrainaian President. And How 60 4-man Russia’s assassination team got neutralized, according to US intelligence officer
Who is protecting Zelensky in Ukraine?
Everyone. Zelenskyy is protected by a small squad of bodyguards. And he is frequently with armed military people wo serve as a secondary bodyguard. But mostly, he is protected by the Ukrainian people. The evidence is in the early days of the war. In February, Russia sent in 60 4-man spetsnaz squads to assassinate Zelenskyy his family, and other high officials. They managed to kill exactly ZERO! But EVERY single member of the spetsnaz were “neutralized”, meaning they were captured or killed. This was mostly done by Ukrainians reporting “suspicious activity” to the authorities, mainly the police.
The primary reason that Russian cannot kill Zelenskyy is that he dresses in the ordinary clothing of a soldier with no indication of rank. He often visits with Ukrainian soldiers and is pretty much indistinguishable. If you notice, there is little deferential posture from those around him that would identify him to a sniper. A sniper would have a tough time even distinguishing him. But that said, every day, Zelenskyy live streams from public places in Kyiv to assure the Ukrainian people that he is there, actively involved, and working for them.
Most likely the 100% neutralization rate was mostly caused by faulty Russian intelligence. The spetsnaz were told that any person with a Russian given or surname (they could tell mostly by the spelling) would be very cooperative. Instead, these ethnic Russian Ukrainians immediately turned the spetsnaz in.
