Listen to own short story: The Uganda child soldier, now head of UN child protection

Child soldiers are tools in conflict prone areas. Alfred Orono was one such tool in Uganda years ago.

Apart from being a tool for conflicts, children also become one of the worse victims of conflict since they are unable to live a normal life like going to school or play as children.

Having been in the frontline of war as a child soldier, Alfred stand tall to be in the position to be the one defending children in conflict prone areas.

Alfred Orono was just 11 years old when he was recruited as a child soldier in Uganda. Now, as head of child protection with the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), he works tirelessly to safeguard children in armed conflict & help former child soldiers build a new future.
