Ghana Health Service Workers Lay Out Strike Roadmap Effective 27th December, According To Citi Eyewitness News [Mother of all strikes begins]

 

1. Haircuts are really good for those who want them, but not for a Rastafarian who is growing hair.

 

2. The government of Ghana decided to restructure domestic bonds with some harrowing measures, including a freeze on interest payments.

 

3. Leaders of labour unions have fiercely rejected the restructuring move to include pension funds that are invested in government bonds.

 

4. Their latest move by labour unions to call the government to order is to declare a nationwide strike involving government workers from all sectors of the economy effective Tuesday, 27th December.

 

5. The health service workers in the country have thus provided a roadmap to the strike with a withdrawal of Out Patients Department (OPD) activities from the 27th December if the government does not heed to their call to exempt pension funds.

 

6. According to the Vice President of the Ghana Medical Association on Citi Eyewitness News, all emergency services for health facilities will be withdrawn effective 2nd January, 2023 if the government does not act before that date.

7. In the end, all health workers will abandon their facilities if the government insists on including pension funds in the domestic debt restructuring.
