Salary validation with issues

Categories of salary validation with issues you need to know

Salary validation with issues is a terminology used to describe the status of workers whose existing salary must not be paid fully for the period. There are various reasons a worker’s existing salary must not be paid fully.

Salary validation is a process introduced by the Government of Ghana to ensure its employees are accountable for work done. The validation process also ensures workers are responsible for any duty assigned to them.

Validation involves

1. Certifying that an individual is on your staff

2. Adding a staff member as a MISSING STAFF if the individual is on your staff but not on your school validation dashboard

3. Declaring a staff member as UNKNOWN if an individual is on your school dashboard but not a staff member at post in your school

4. Certifying that an individual is on your staff but with issues

Validation with issue

a.  A staff member is absent from work for some number of days in the month. The implication of this is that the wages for the number of days that a staff was absent must be deducted.

b. A staff member is absent based on health or sickness. The implementation is that the staff must be paid half when his or their absence is beyond a certain duration.

c. Vacation from post. This means the staff no longer works for the employer and does not need to be paid

d. A staff receives an unearned salary. This happens when a staff salary scale is higher than what is due to him or her

Commentary

Despite the issues illustrated above, the most common issue that creates problems for employees and unit heads is salary validation with issues concerning an unearned salary.

This is because the unit heads do not wish to be held responsible for such loss of money to the state or to be asked for a refund. However, certain complications could arise, leading to salary cuts for employees.
