Reversible blindness and mental disturbance during pregnancy are conditions that can easily be prevented and/or easily managed when reported early. A mistake, not reporting the early signs on time, can be very dreadful for both the pregnant woman and her loved ones.

The early signs associated with the condition hypertensive encephalopathy among pregnant women can be easy to spot.

Swollen legs, swollen hands and persistent headaches during pregnancy are not a sign that a pregnant woman will give birth to a male child, as it is believed by certain groups of people. However, they simply mean the pregnant woman is sitting on a time bomb for complications of preeclampsia and/or hypertensive encephalopathy to develop into severe levels.

You can only know whether the swelling is normal or not when you visit the hospital for routine check-ups when pregnant.
