      The Ghana Education Service has finally released the official reopening date for Basic Schools in the country. This brings to an end weeks of speculation among stakeholders.

       

      The Ghana Education Service released a press release today to announce the official reopening date.

      Basic Schools will reopen 3rd October 2023, according to the press release. This reopening date means that academic calendar has reversed to pre-COVID 19 era. Below is the letter that GES released.

      ALL REGIONAL DIRECTORS OF EDUCATION

      REOPENING DATE FOR BASIC SCHOOLS FOR FIRST TERM OF 2023/2024 ACADEMIC YEAR

      Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform you that the opening date for Basic School (KG, Primary & Junior High Schools) across the country for First Term of 2023/2324 Academic Year is 3rd OCTOBER, 2023. This brings back the academic calendar back to pre-COVID 19 and we wish to also convey to all teaching and non-teaching staff the sincere appreciation of Management for their immense support during our efforts to ensure teaching and learning during the difficult period of our country.

       

      By this letter, Regional Directors of Education are requested to communicate this date to Metro/Municipal/District Directors of Education to inform all Heads of Basic Schools to bring to the attention of parents/guardians and students to take note and prepare accordingly for a smooth and effective academic work.
