G.E.S Staff Vehicle Maintenance Allowance Payment: UPDATE FROM GNAT NATIONAL COUNCIL MEETING

The vehicle maintenance allowance for staff of the Ghana Education Service has been cleared by the ministry of finance for payment. The information was disclosed by the National Council of the Ghana National Association of Teachers during their last council meeting. It is however unclear which date exactly the funds will be released. The brief was carried at the 10th bullet of the council’s briefing.

1. GNAT Death/ Retirement benefit increased to GH 3,000.00 effective 1st January.

2. The establishment of GNAT Institute for Research and Industrial Relations ongoing.

3. The Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC) Board and the Cancer Foundation Board Inaugurated.

4. GNAT members who retired Effective January, 2023 are qualified to receive treatment from the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (SGMC).

5. GNAT Provident Fund Scheme ( Tier 3) is doing well. Members are encouraged to enroll unto the Scheme.

6. Leadership of GNAT making efforts for the refund of the Gh 44.55 on the one Teacher one Laptop.

7. Allowance for Teachers in deprived areas: Technical Committee had finished thier work and would present thier report to GES.

8. Promotions ( senior and junior ranks) and upgrading are ongoing.

9. Local GNAT conferences would be held from February to April, 2023 across the country.

10. Vehicle Maintenance Allowance: Financial Clearance given to GES for 1,803 Teachers to be paid the allowance.
