This List Of GNAT District Secretaries To Proceed On Transfer As Ordered By Court

Disgruntled GNAT district secretaries to proceed on transfer as ordered by the high court: The headquarters of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) had issued a transfer notice to some district secretaries of the labour union in the first week of December 2022. The transfer by the largest labour union in the country was considered a mass transfer because of the number of staff involved.

However, twelve (12) district secretaries who were part of the transferred staff sued the association at the high court, labour and industrial division, Accra. They prayed the court to declare the transfer as null and void in an attempt to reverse the transfer.

Despite getting the court to put an injunction on the whole transfer process on two occasions pending the final determination of the case, the court finally declared the disgruntled GNAT district secretaries to proceed with the transfer.

The court on Tuesday 28th March 2028 refused to grant the relief the twelve disgruntled secretaries were seeking and asked them to proceed to their new stations.
