Highlights

1. The monthly allowance for national service personnel has remained the same for the past six (6) years while the salaries of all workers in the country have increased annually with article 71 office holders taking as much as over 70% in some years.

2. In US Dollar terms, the Ghc559 allowance is $46 today compared to $82 in 2016 when the allowance was even only Ghc350 using the exchange rates of Ghc13.1 and Ghc4.28 for both November 2022 and December 2016 respectively

3. The year-on inflation for October 2022 is 40.4% which means the new service personnel will be taking only about 60% of the value of their immediate senior if the new personnel take the same Ghc559
