Every man’s and woman’s marriage will shake from age 45 to 55.

And most women from 55 to 64 will have lesser reasons to remain in an unhappy marriage, according to Colette Allred of Bowling Green State University, USA who studied marriages between 1990 and 2017.

Remember former president Mahama’s lawyer, Tony Lithur and his wife, the former minister for gender and children protection of Ghana who have to get divorced despite their accomplished public life? The shake up of marriages does not respect couples’ accomplishment, especially from the age of 45 to the age of 65.

Midlife crisis is a psychological crisis brought about by events that highlight a person’s growing age, inevitable mortality, and possibly lack of accomplishments in life. This may produce feelings of intense depression, remorse, and high levels of anxiety, or the desire to achieve youthfulness or make drastic changes to your current lifestyle or feel the wish to change past decisions and events.
Midlife crisis in men can lead to them dating a younger girl to satisfy their desire of feeling young again.

The only person who can help a man going through midlife crisis is the man himself… He needs the company of a friend who is filled with divine wisdom and an understanding of the season he is in.

If you are at this point in your life and suddenly you feel a sense of dissatisfaction, lack of fulfillment, failing marriage and a desire for more alcohol or women than you used to have, reach out to a brother you trust.

And for the women, changes in their body in their 40s lead to insecurities and this affects their trust levels for their men. However, a woman needs a man most in her 40s as she is either at the peak of her career and needs an extra hand or the children are becoming teenagers and parenting gets a bit tricky. In her 40s, the woman would do everything to make her marriage work while the man would resist all her efforts since he is dealing with his own demons.

But in her mid 50s, the woman will stop fighting for anything. She is either accomplished or have embraced her reality. She stops making efforts to change her husband and is more open to divorce. The man on the other hand has achieved some stability in his 50s or accepted the status quo as his reality and is less interested in divorce.

These are realities of life…. Imams, pastors, priests or atheists will have the same experience.
