5 Reliable Extra Income Sources For Workers

There are reliable extra income sources for workers. Everyone should know the benefits of making extra income as workers, especially as government workers. Since salaries are usually low, there is the need for workers to engage in a second job. Inability to engage in a second job usually renders the worker poor.

However, the lack of time to engage in any second job is a major factor that discourages workers from taking up a second job. Luckily, the extra sources of income provided could be done within the little time available to the worker after his or her official schedule. The extra sources of income are

1. Food vending before or after work hours

2. Freelance writing

3. Blogger

4. Social media marketer

5. Backyard gardening

6. Selling of products or services at workplaces

Details

1. Food vending before and after working hours: Food is a commodity that does not lack a market. Food is in demand every hour of the day. Food is arguably the highest demand in the mornings or in the evenings. Since everyone must leave their home for work or school, especially children, it means anyone can wake up earlier and prepare meals for sale. The worker can then close an hour or 30minutes before work to report for work. After all, the customers (other workers and students) must also report to work or school just like the worker. For evening sales, closing before an ideal bedtime is good.

2. Freelance writing: Anyone who can write a report or prepare notes can write a story for news publications. The individual only needs to find the niche he or she can comfortably write about with less effort. Anyone who loves to write has an added advantage of succeeding as a freelance writer for media houses. A worker can use break hours, or the hours before work or after work, to earn a little more. Depending on the marketability of the niche the individual is writing for, the individual can earn relatively more. In either case, no amount is too small, especially when the writer is writing for fun.

3. Blogger: A blogger and freelance writer has many similarities. The only extra work involved in blogging is that the owner is responsible for the management of the blogging business. Freelance writers only submit an article when it is ready for publication. However, a blogger makes sure the blog runs daily 24/7. The blogger must therefore be in a position to write daily and market it without fail. The formal sector worker can use his break periods, hours before work and after working hours to engage in blogging activities for a little extra income. However, blogging is not an easy way out in search of extra income.

4. Backyard gardening or small holder farming: Imagine the small space of land in your compound that is able to provide you with cassava, maize, okro, pepper, tomato etc. Even if you do not sell these products, the income you would have used to buy them will be saved. And that is an extra income put into your pocket. Having even one acre of farm land solely for your home consumption is good enough to provide a sustainable extra income to cushion the worker.

5. Selling products to colleagues at or outside the workplace: carrying exercise books, pens and other stationary to school as a teacher and selling them the same to students at market price is certainly a reliable source of extra income. The same thing applies to a nurse who sends first aid equipment that middle class people would buy to the workplace to sell. Community people and neighbors will also knock for such products when they are needed. Workers need to find out what can be sold at their workplace without any conflict with the system in place.

Bottom point

Extra Income Sources for workers is a sure way to decrease the level of financial stress that people go through. Also, salaries paid by employers will never be enough. Even reading this article is not a solution until the worker initiates action to implement the ideas provided here or elsewhere.
