      3 Teacher Unions Provide More Details And Clues About This Year’s CPD Allowance Through The Media

      In a follow up to the letters written by the three teacher unions to the employer, Ghana Education Service, the three unions have commenced media engagements.

      Below are the details provided by the three teachers’ unions. According to Kind Ali, the spokesperson for the three teacher unions in an interview with the Citinews’ Eyewitness news today, 14th September, King Ali provided the following:

      1. Salaries go through certain processes.

      2. Such processes involved the employer, Ghana Education Service, writing through the Ministry of Education to the Ministry of Finance to release funds for payment of the allowance.

      3. The finance minister would then instruct the controller to effect the payment

      4. However, as at this month, September, which is almost over, there are no signs of any such processes having commenced.

      5. It is for this reason the three teachers’ unions have written to the employer, Ghana Education Service, to remind them to initiate the process so that the allowances could be paid before the end of the year.

      The question then is what would be the consequence of a late start to the process.
