NTC Modified several Guidelines For Licensing Non-Professional Teachers

 

According to the National Teaching Council (NTC) in a circular on the 19th December 2022

 

1. Reference to our letter dated 26th July 2022…. we indicated that all teachers who were employed as Non-professionals but had their professional certificate after 30th September 2018 have been exempted by the National Teaching Council (NTC) Board from writing the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination (GTE)

 

2. The council beings to your attention the following amendments to the earlier communication.

 

3. Thus, the exemption covers

 

a. Only staff of the Ghana Education Service and Ghana TVET Service

 

b. All staff who were employed before 31st December 2018 and are able to secure a professional teaching certificate from a recognized institution on or before 2024

c. All first degree and diploma certificate holders without certificate in education who are employed but acquired their professional certificate on or before 31st December 2024. Persons in this category should have been practicing as unqualified teachers before 2018.

 

4. Such teachers must upload their professional certificates and appointment letters and passport sized photograph (white background) on the Teacher Portal Ghana (tpg.ntc.gov.gh) and pay the exemption fee of One hundred and fifty Ghana cedis (Ghc150) before 30th March, 2023.
