GNAT Finally Dare Government To Shave Members’ Mutual Fund And Pension Contributions [A Disturbance Might Start With Teachers]

In a press release by the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the government was dared to touch members’ contributions, which are in GNAT mutual fund, GNAT Provident fund, GESOPS funds.

Portions of the strong worded statement read:

“Leadership of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, GNAT, finally sound this note of caution, that the contribution and savings of teachers, should not be touched, that failure to heed this caution would throw the country into industrial disturbance”, the statement concluded.

The statement which was signed by the general secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers, Mr. Thomas Tanko Musah emphasized that:

“we wish to state unequivocally clear that we are not interested in any exchange of domestic notes and bonds of the Republic” as part of the financial haircut about to be undertaken by the government
