The resemblance of the sickness to malaria makes people attempt treating it at home with anti-malaria drugs.

Your intestines can be perforated at the advanced stage of typhoid fever. A perforated intestines is a lethal situation.

Typhoid fever, also known as enteric fever, which is a bacterial infection caused by a bacteria called Salmonella typhi, can be life threatening. Salmonella typhi can spread throughout the body and affect many organs if not treated promptly. Many people have been affected by this disease and need to know more about it to avoid or prevent complications and also subsequent infections.

The bacteria, Salmonella typhi is very contagious and an infected person can spread the disease through their poo or pee. When someone eats or drinks water infected with bacteria, the person can be infected. It is necessary to wash your hands with soap and water after pooing or peeing to avoid the spread of this bacteria.

Typhoid is prevalent in places with less sanitation, hygiene and poor sources of drinking water. Typhoid is more common in children since they tend to put anything they see into their mouths.

Some causes are:

1 . Sharing toilet With an Infected person: When an infected person visits the toilet and touches the door handle with the infected poo and another person touches the door hand and touches his or her mouth before washing his hands, the person can be infected.

2 . Drinking unsafe water or drinking water contaminated with bacteria.

3 . Eating from food vendors who may be infected.

4. Eating foods or vegetables sprayed with or washed with contaminated water.
