Mass revocation of additional responsibility appointment hit Aveyime-Battor SHTS, ABAST
The Headmaster of Aveyime-Battor, Mr. Michael Tottime, by a general notice, posted on the staff WhatsApp platform, has revoked the appointment of the senior Housemaster, Senior Housemistreses, all House parents (House masters), Heads of Departments and Form Masters/Advisors without recourse to proper procedure remiscent of a friendly work environment. This was done through a general notice (circular) that was posted on staff platform without prior notice to the teachers, and without reasons thereof. The WhatsApp revocation letter is currently being share widely on several social media platforms both far and near.
This development is not only affecting school environment but is silently affecting students’ discipline, morale and academic lives, particularly, the final year students of the school, who at this crucial period prior to their final WASSCE need the guidance, attention and support of their otherwise House parents (Advisors), Heads of Department, Senior Housemistreses/masters and Form Masters/Advisors.
According to some of the staff who we contacted after signting the WhatsApp revocation letter, the teachers fear the letter may deter new teachers from accepting posting to the school with it’s long term effects on teaching and learning. “Who want to be in unfriendly environment” one teacher remarked.
Agitation is mounting and it’s the moral and the academic lives of the students that are at stake, if action is not taken by GES and or the ministry of Education
The impact of the revocation of the Teachers’ Additional Responsibility Duties on both teachers and students cannot be underestimated. The school environment is undoubtedly unfriendly to both teaching and learning due to the hostile action by the headmaster of Aveyime-Battor SHTS, Mr. Micheal K.N Tottime.

In a related story, many headteacher s in several Senior High Schools have assigned teachers to perform responsibilities that qualify them to be paid responsibility allowances. Unfortunately, such headmaster refused to issue letters to the teachers to process the responsibility allowance. What could be the reason for not issuing the letters, since such monies will not come out of their pockets or salary? Your reasons are as good as ours!!!
